FAQ
Information
Here is a collection of questions asked by our customers: How do I place an order? You can order using email or by phone. See the 'How to place an order' page for more info. _________ How much does shipping cost? We charge a flat rate of $25 for single quantities shipped anywhere in Canada, #6 or smaller. For the larger sizes, (#7 to #10), or carton quantities, we will obtain the exact shipping cost from our shipper. Shipping is a function of the box dimensions and the weight. A pallet, shipped LTL, can vary from $100 to $200 depending where it’s going in Canada. _________ Who is the manufacturer of your pipeboots? We sell 100% authentic DEKS(™) pipeboots and roof flashing products. For more info, visit www.DEKS.com.au _________ Are DEKTITE pipeboots CSA approved? Yes, click here to view the CSA certificate. _________ What is the warranty? DEKS warranties their pipeboot products for 20 years. See the manufacturer’s website for more details. _________ How do you choose the correct size pipeboot? For convenience, we've placed the outside diameter pipe range (in inches) next to each standard DEKTITE size, in all our price charts. Generally, the pipeboot will work for any pipe within that range. However, our customers often select a boot where the pipe O/D is in the middle of the range. _________ Which is better, square base or round base? Both products are excellent pipeboots. Which one to use is personal preference. However, some of our customers have told us that they prefer DEKTITE Premium square base because it has more rubber at the base to work with. Squarebase pipeboots work up to a 12/12 roof pitch, where round base work up to 10/12 pitch. _________ When should I use high temperature silicone? Silicone pipeboots should be used in applications where the pipe will become hot. EPDM will withstand constant temperatures at the roofline of -50°C (-58°F) to 115°C (239°F) and up to 150°C (302°F) intermittently. Red Silicone will withstand constant temperatures at the roofline of -50°C (-58°F) to 200°C (392°F) and up to 250°C (482°F) intermittently. See the manufacturer's website for more information. <Click here> for more info on chimney applications. _________ Do you ship to the USA? Our primary market is Canada. _________ Are other colors available? We only stock Black, Grey and Red Silicone. However, various colors are available, by special order, for Original Roundbase sizes #3, #5 and #8. _________ What type of caulking should be used? DEKS recomends using a neutral cure, low modulus silicone sealant from a reputable manufacturer. Acetyl cure silicones should not be used. Low modulus silicone means that it is stretchy, has lots of movement Neutral-cure silicones release alcohol when they cure and have almost no smell. (Acid-cure caulking have a vinegar smell as they cure) _________ What type of screws do I use? To secure the boot to the metal, use a 16mm self-tapping hex-head screw that comes with a rubber washer. _________
