DEKS warranties their pipeboot products for 20 years. See the manufacturer’s website for more details. _________ SQUARE BASE OR ROUND BASE? Both products are excellent pipeboots. Which one to use is personal preference. However, some of our customers have told us that they prefer DEKTITE Premium square base because it has a larger base. _________ WHAT ABOUT ROOF PITCH? Squarebase pipeboots work up to a 12/12 roof pitch, where round base work up to 10/12 pitch. _________ WHEN TO USE HIGH TEMPERATURE SILICONE? Silicone pipeboots should be used in applications where the pipe will become hot. EPDM will withstand constant temperatures at the roofline of -50°C (-58°F) to 115°C (239°F) and up to 150°C (302°F) intermittently. Red Silicone will withstand constant temperatures at the roofline of -50°C (-58°F) to 200°C (392°F) and up to 250°C (482°F) intermittently. Colors are available, by special order, for Original Roundbase sizes #3, #5 and #8. _________ WHAT TYPE OF SEALANT TO USE? DEKS recomends using a neutral cure, low modulus silicone sealant from a reputable manufacturer. Acetyl (acid) cure silicones should not be used. • Low modulus silicone means that it is stretchy, has lots of movement • Neutral-cure silicones release alcohol when they cure and have almost no smell.
